Shipping a boat overseas requires specialized handling. We have done it hundreds of times. Whether you're an importer selling boats in Central America, a buyer purchasing a vessel from the United States, or a boat owner relocating overseas, we handle the entire process.
How We Ship Boats Overseas
Boats are always shipped using the flat rack method, an open shipping platform that accommodates the boat's width, height, and irregular shape.
- You bring the boat on its trailer, or we arrange pickup and transport to our facility
- Fluid draining, all gasoline, engine oil, and bilge water are drained (required by maritime regulations)
- Shrink-wrapping, the entire vessel is professionally shrink-wrapped to protect against salt air, UV, and weather during transit
- Flat rack placement, the boat (still on or removed from trailer depending on size) is carefully positioned on the flat rack
- Securing and lashing, the vessel is secured using straps, chains, and blocking per international lashing standards
- Port transport, the flat rack is transported to the port
- Crane loading, a port crane lifts the flat rack onto the vessel
- Ocean transit, your boat is shipped to the destination port
- Destination handling, crane unloads the flat rack at the destination port
Types of Boats We Ship
We ship boats of all types and sizes including:
- Powerboats and motorboats
- Fishing boats (recreational and commercial)
- Sailboats and catamarans
- Pontoon boats
- Center console boats
- Cuddy cabins and bowriders
- Larger yachts and luxury vessels
Why Boats Are Shipped on Flat Racks
Boats can't be dismantled and put in a standard container (or at least not cost-effectively). Their hull shape, beam width, and height means they won't fit inside an enclosed container. Flat racks, with no roof or walls, accommodate the boat's full dimensions.
For very large vessels that even exceed flat rack dimensions, we can arrange specialized shipping solutions.
Marine Cargo Insurance
Every shipment is covered by full marine cargo insurance from the moment we pick up your machinery in the United States to delivery at your destination port. Your equipment is fully protected throughout the entire journey.
